Shield AI is hiring a remote Staff Engineer to lead advanced C++ networking capabilities for autonomous systems. The role sits in the Hivemind Foundations team and focuses on high-performance, reliable networking software from transport through application layers. Core work includes owning EdgeOS communication stack architecture, implementing low-latency C++ networking components, building transport and application layer features, and collaborating with autonomy, systems, and simulation teams. Required experience includes production C++11 or newer, networking fundamentals across IP, TCP/UDP, routing and QoS, debugging tools such as Wireshark, and distributed or networked systems. Preferred experience includes C++17, CMake, Conan, distributed systems, autonomous robotics, network emulation and wireless networking concepts.
