Backblaze is hiring a remote Backend Engineer for the Foundation Services Team. The role focuses on core services for identity, access, and integrations, including highly available APIs for user and resource orchestration at scale. Responsibilities include designing Java-based services, implementing authentication and account management features, integrating AI-assisted development tools, working across the technical lifecycle from design to delivery, collaborating with QA, product, support, security, finance and marketing teams, and maintaining large-scale system stability. The role is suitable for engineers with 3+ years of Java backend experience, secure HTTP/access-control fundamentals, and experience or interest in Vitess, Cassandra, Redis, Docker, Prometheus, Grafana and OpenSearch.
